1 year haircut
Last night the weather was so nice that we couldn't help but play outside after dinner for Family Home Evening. Here is a picture of Jonev before his haircut. You can see that it is nice and long on the sides. It is so curly and cute, but it is time to cut it.
He held pretty still for a baby and let me comb and cut his hair, here you can see the difference in the sides from left to right. It is always a challenge to get their hair to look somewhat decent especially the first time.
Here he is after, we couldn't get a non blurry picture with him looking, so this is the best for now at least. Jonpa says that he looks like someone loves him now. I say that he just looks like the little boy that the has grown into. He really thinks that he is big and can do all of the things that his brothers can. He is such a joy to have in our lives. It is hard to believe that it has been a year and that we have reached this milestone.

Birthday Party
On Saturday we celebrated Jonev's first birthday! Here is a picture of the boys at the beginning of the party. Sorry it is a little blurry, the boys wouldn't stop rocking the in chair.
Here's Evan with all of his curly baby hair before we sang to him, he wasn't quite sure what to expect.

This is the cake, his cake and then the one for everyone else.
Here are some of our friends and cousins that were able to join us for his celebration.
He really enjoyed his cake, after he figured out that he was supposed to eat it. It took a little while, he was so cute patting it and then turning it around. He even dumped it off of the plate and then picked it up, we thought that he would take a bite of it then but he didn't. As soon as he had a taste of the frosting though, it was all over. It is always fun to celebrate a first birthday. Thank you to all of our family and friends that came to celebrate with us.

Mole Cricket
Last night I found a bug in my kitchen that I had never seen before in my lifetime. I looked up online because I wanted to know how concerned I should be. Ends up it is a MOLE CRICKET. I have to say it is one of the strangest looking bugs that I have ever seen. Of course I had to catch it and put it in a jar for the boys to see this morning. They thought it was so cool! Jongr wanted to take it to school today, silly boy. I did not take a picture of it, but here is a link for one.

A little love from Uncle Joe
We made Beef Milanesa's on Monday and they turned out so good, everyone loved them and I was happy to be able to make a little something new. It was also a nice way to use up a cheap cut of meat and make it taste nice and tender. Gotta love that. Thanks to my brother for sharing this with us. Thanks to Paul for finding a new recipe program for me on the new IMac(the old one isn't supported anymore and I loved it, but oh well. This one let's me post recipes directly to my blog. HOW FUN IS THAT! I love cooking and trying new things, so maybe now I will post more recipes here. The boys love helping me, the reason for their aprons. Since I wear one, they want to also.
Milanesa
Chicken or Beef
Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs boneless sirloin or chicken
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- 2 garlic cloves, finely minced
- 1/2 teaspoon crushed dried Oregano
- 1/4 teaspoon crushed dried red chili peppers
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Freshly ground pepper to taste
- Pinch of dried Parsley or Cilantro
- 1/2 cup of dry breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1 Tablespoon dried Parsley
- Lemon wedges
Directions
- Slice the meat until it is 1/4 inch thick pieces. With a mallet pound them until they are 1/8 inch thick pieces (yields about 8 slices). Beat the egg with a fork. Add garlic, Oregano, red pepper, salt, pepper, and dried parsley to the egg. Pour the egg mixture over the steaks and marinate for 10 minutes, turning several times. Dip the steaks in breadcrumbs, turning several times to completely cover the meat, pressing the breadcrumbs into the meat with the heal of your hand. Heat the oil in the skillet and saute the steaks on a medium setting until they are golden brown on both sides. Remove the steaks for the skillet. Sprinkle with fresh parsley and squeeze lemon juice over them.
