A little love from Uncle Joe

We made Beef Milanesa's on Monday and they turned out so good, everyone loved them and I was happy to be able to make a little something new. It was also a nice way to use up a cheap cut of meat and make it taste nice and tender. Gotta love that. Thanks to my brother for sharing this with us. Thanks to Paul for finding a new recipe program for me on the new IMac(the old one isn't supported anymore and I loved it, but oh well. This one let's me post recipes directly to my blog. HOW FUN IS THAT! I love cooking and trying new things, so maybe now I will post more recipes here. The boys love helping me, the reason for their aprons. Since I wear one, they want to also.

Milanesa

Chicken or Beef

Ingredients

  1. 1.5 lbs boneless sirloin or chicken
  2. 1 egg, lightly beaten
  3. 2 garlic cloves, finely minced
  4. 1/2 teaspoon crushed dried Oregano
  5. 1/4 teaspoon crushed dried red chili peppers
  6. 1/4 teaspoon salt
  7. Freshly ground pepper to taste
  8. Pinch of dried Parsley or Cilantro
  9. 1/2 cup of dry breadcrumbs
  10. 1/4 cup olive oil
  11. 1 Tablespoon dried Parsley
  12. Lemon wedges

Directions

  1. Slice the meat until it is 1/4 inch thick pieces. With a mallet pound them until they are 1/8 inch thick pieces (yields about 8 slices). Beat the egg with a fork. Add garlic, Oregano, red pepper, salt, pepper, and dried parsley to the egg. Pour the egg mixture over the steaks and marinate for 10 minutes, turning several times. Dip the steaks in breadcrumbs, turning several times to completely cover the meat, pressing the breadcrumbs into the meat with the heal of your hand. Heat the oil in the skillet and saute the steaks on a medium setting until they are golden brown on both sides. Remove the steaks for the skillet. Sprinkle with fresh parsley and squeeze lemon juice over them.
