Jonsu's Birthday

It is hard to believe that I have reached that midway point between 30 and 40, I really don't feel that old ( i know some of you are reading this and thinking that I am a spring chicken, but I am the oldest in my family so to them I am OLD). I feel blessed to have a wonderful husband and four beautiful children who made me feel special on my big day. Thank you to all of my friends and family for the birthday wishes and surprises. I love you all!

The traditional morning birthday picture, complete with handmade birthday sign and first present of the day.
Here's a cute picture of Jontu taken the morning of my birthday.
Jonev posing with the cake and flowers they got me.
Jongr and Jontu wanted me to guess what each gift was before I opened it. It was lots of fun, I knew what most of them were before I opened them. :)
Here's me with the cake just before I blew out the candles. I requested only three, 35 seems like a fire hazard. LOL!
We had a busy week; Jongr and Jontu started piano lessons this week with Sis. Beth Green from our ward. Wednesday Jongr had cubscouts, Thursday was my RS meeting for the month, and Friday was an adult ward party, then Saturday was the Interfaith Quilting Bee that our stake hosts each year for NAM and SOS. It was a great week!

A few Birthday pictures

We started my birthday off, by visiting Paul at his office and going to lunch at one of our favorite little places that Edwin and Jennifer introduced us to before they left Houston. We love Muffaletta's!
My very own Chef's hat courtesy of one of Paul's co-workers. Thank you! I had forgotten how much I enjoy wearing them to keep the hair out of my face when I cook. I used to wear one all of the time at one of the bakeries where I worked.
Little Jonev was trying to help dad do some work. I loved this picture and had to post it!
A picture of me and my boys, with the cake and flowers that I got for my birthday! It really was a great day, I love my family!

Relief Society an International Women's Organization

Another reason that this is my favorite time of year, is because it is the annual General Relief Society Meeting of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. It is broadcast to all of the Relief Society women throughout the world, I always feel amazed when I think of all of the women all over the world doing the same thing at the same time. It truly is a wonderful organization of women and I am so thankful to be a part of it.

The messages that were shared were truly wonderful, so many good things. A few that really stuck out to me, is the purpose of Relief Society, the legacy of those who have gone before us, that we are all children of God and that he loves all of us no matter what stage of life we are in or what we have done with our lives, we all matter to Him, that visiting teaching is just the opportunity to go about the Lord's work here on earth, and many, many, more wonderful things. I am so thankful to have been able to see the support that is offered to the women of the church by our prophet Thomas S. Monson and his counselors Elder Eyring and Elder Uchtdorf. For some reason this stuck out to me so much more this time. I can't wait to read or listen to them again when they come out after General Conference sometime in a couple of weeks. It is going to be hard to wait that long.

Repurposing

I have been on a repurposing kick again and this time it doesn't have anything to do with Girl's Camp, the young women of the Mesa 5th Ward would ask me why we always had to make something with the garbage (I don't think that was the exact word, but the meaning).  LOL!  I love to make stuff out of old stuff and am inspired by all of the fun projects that I have found online and in magazines, I am amazed at how talented others are. Thanks for all of the inspiration.

This time it started when I cut up one of Jonpa's old jean shirts and started making some fun bags with it at christmas time, I made Jontu a little bag for his small Book of Mormon. Then the idea's started flowing.  Jonpa had quite a few shirts that had gotten ruined in the dryer or were worn so much that he couldn't wear them to the office anymore, but most of the fabric was still in good shape.  Jongr kept asking for a bible and so we bought him one for Easter, but his scripture bag was too small, so then I made him a new one using some of the old clothes too.  I still had a lot of fabric left and wanted to make an apron out of it.  I had recently been searching around on the web for some apron idea's and came across this awesome blog with lots of fun aprons, there is a link for it later on. After taking some of these ideas in, I made an apron for myself (it's reversible), then one for Jongr and Jontu (I got the idea for the aprons from this creative blog).  I have some ideas for bibs for Jonev too, but I am still working on perfecting them. The first one didn't turn out like I wanted it.  Today I finally took pictures of it all.  Thanks so much to Jen for encouraging me and continuing to help me find ways to repurpose the stuff that we have instead of buying new things.  Thanks for Lisha and Misha for inspiring me to be more GREEN.  I am also thankful for the creative ideas that have flowed so freely for me this past month especially.  I know that my Heavenly Father loves me very much.
I love creating things, it makes me so happy!
